Together, Peter and Debu lead the delivery of cricket in the Whanganui region. Their combined
efforts ensure that the game is supported from grassroots through to senior levels, creating
opportunities for players, coaches, volunteers, and the wider community.
General Manager – Peter Bowman
As General Manager, Peter oversees the operations, strategy, and development of Cricket Whanganui. He is responsible for senior cricket, funding, facilities, and building partnerships across the region. Peter works closely with clubs, schools, Central Districts Cricket, and New Zealand Cricket to ensure the game thrives at every level. His leadership ensures that cricket in Whanganui remains both sustainable and inclusive, with opportunities for all who wish to play or be involved.
Community Cricket Development Manager – Debu Banik
Debu leads the delivery of cricket programmes across schools and clubs, with a focus on engaging children, young people, and families in the game. His role is about growing participation, providing coaching support, and building pathways for players to progress from grassroots to representative cricket. Based in the heart of our community, Debu is passionate about making cricket fun, accessible, and rewarding for everyone who picks up a bat or ball.
