Building the Foundation
The Junior Pathways programme provides representative opportunities for boys and girls from Under 12s through to Under 15s across our districts. These age-group teams are designed to give young players their first taste of representative cricket, laying the foundation for future progression.
Fixtures are organised against other Central Districts districts, with sides often attending inter-district festivals or the renowned Hawke’s Bay Camps tournaments during the season. These experiences expose players to a higher level of cricket while creating friendships and memories that last well beyond the boundary rope.
Players are selected after observation days held during the season. Each player pays a $250 registration fee for the Junior Pathways programme, with tournament costs shared equally across the squad. This ensures opportunities remain accessible while fostering a strong sense of team commitment.
The Junior Pathways programme is about more than competition — it’s about inspiring young players to enjoy their cricket, build their skills, and prepare for the next step on their journey.
